ABOUT
STEPHANIE

I came to psychotherapy out of a love of listening, supporting, and nurturing other people. I received my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley in 2017 and completed internships working with adult clients at the UCSF Epilepsy Center and the Marina Counseling Center in San Francisco. I later received intensive training working with families, teens, and transitional age youth while at the Eden Counseling Center in Castro Valley.

I have experience working with couples, families, and individuals facing a range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief, immigration trauma, LGBTQ issues, and relationship difficulties. I use an attachment-focused perspective and employ mindfulness, deep empathy, and a sense of humor in my work. I help my clients experience a different way of relating that leads to healing and change.  I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT License #122813)

My own life experience deeply informs my approach to therapy. I received my B.A. from Vassar College in International Studies and a J.D. from the University of San Francisco. While in law school, I became interested in criminal defense and represented clients at various levels of the criminal justice system. After graduating, I worked for many years as an immigration lawyer. While I remain passionate about that work, I decided to return to graduate school to become a psychotherapist in order to align my passion for listening and relationship building with my professional life.

When not working, I enjoy live music, dancing, swimming in the San Francisco Bay, hiking with my dogs, and spending time with my husband and family of choice. Please contact me to set up a complimentary initial consultation to see if we might be a good fit to work together.
