ABOUT
STEPHANIE

I came to psychotherapy out of a love of listening and a fascination with the human capacity for change and growth. I received my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley and completed internships working at the UCSF Epilepsy Center and the Marina Counseling Center in San Francisco. I later received intensive training working with couples and families at the Eden Counseling Center in Alameda County. Previously, I received my B.A. from Vassar College in International Studies, a J.D. from the University of San Francisco, and worked for many years as an immigration lawyer.

I have studied a range of therapeutic orientations and modalities, including Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Attachment-Focused EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and sex therapy for partners and individuals. I feel lucky to have worked with highly experienced mentors, supervisors, and therapists who have helped to guide my own healing journey and my therapeutic work with clients.

When not working, I enjoy live music, travel, scuba diving, dancing, swimming in the San Francisco Bay, hiking with my dogs, and spending time with my family of choice. Please contact me to set up a complimentary initial consultation to see if we might be a good fit to work together.

EXPERIENCE

My own life experience deeply informs my approach to therapy. I received my B.A. from Vassar College in International Studies and a J.D. from the University of San Francisco. While in law school, I became interested in criminal defense and represented clients at various levels of the criminal justice system. After graduating, I worked for many years as an immigration lawyer. While I remain passionate about that work, I decided to return to graduate school to become a psychotherapist in order to align my passion for listening and relationship building with my professional life.

When not working, I enjoy live music, dancing, swimming in the San Francisco Bay, hiking with my dogs, and spending time with my husband and family of choice. Please contact me to set up a complimentary initial consultation to see if we might be a good fit to work together.
